You wait six months for an away win – and then three come in the space of six days. This is the Manchester United we all know and love. This is the Manchester United we knew could perform well.
Beating Chelsea on their own turf while they’ve been in brilliant form lately isn’t an easy thing to do. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer got his tactics and team selection spot on. Fans are quick to throw the blame in the Baby Faced Assassin’s direction, so why not praise him when things are going well, eh?
There were a whole host of quality individual performances on the day, though the standout for me was Scott McTominay. The midfielder was playing like a man possessed, single-handedly bossing Jorginho and Mateo Kovacic on both sides of the ball.
McTominay’s passing was exquisite and he always had moving forward in mind. When Chelsea were in possession, the United academy graduate was tough in the tackle and read the game brilliantly – maintaining an outstanding interception rate. This was all while playing on a yellow card for 80 minutes, by the way…
Anyway after the match, the Old Trafford faithful were full of praise for their star man; taking to Twitter to react to the 22-year-old’s dominant display vs Chelsea. Check out the best ones here:
