Earlier today, we covered a story outlining details of a Scott McTominay richly-deserved new contract.
The 23-year-old midfielder has been vitally important to Manchester United’s success this season, and there’s always something pretty special about watching an academy graduate flourish at the highest level.
Credit where it’s due, the Scotland international has really taken his game up a notch under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer – culminating in scoring *that* goal against Manchester City before play was halted due to lockdown.
This morning’s news was definitely most welcome. McTominay has earned fresh terms and now the Old Trafford club don’t have to worry about his future for at least a half-decade. It means McTominay can now focus solely on his football as he looks to continue to improve and grow as a player.
As you’d imagine, social media was awash with praise, with United fans delighted at the 23-year-old’s decision to extend his Reds stay:
Honestly, I’m so thrilled. McTominay is someone who has the potential to be a captain. He’s got the attitude and mindset to go right the way to the summit and it has been an absolute pleasure watching him develop and grow.
He does feel like the perfect player to get selected in a trio alongside Bruno Fernandes and Paul Pogba, and I suspect we’ll see that combination in action at Old Trafford tomorrow evening.
It wasn’t that long ago when McTominay did look limited as a player, but it just shows you what hard work can do. Now, he looks a mainstay in a Red Devils team who are improving all the time.
Well done!
