Manchester United Football Club ground out a hard-fought 1-0 victory at home to Wolverhampton Wanderers last night – booking their place in the FA Cup fourth round in the process.
The Red Devils’ made a few changes to the starting XI but eventually, they had just enough to get the job done. When your defence keeps clean sheets, you always have a chance and since the emergence of Brandon Williams, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s job has been made all-the-easier.
United have kept six clean sheets in Williams’ last seven games to be precise. He genuinely has turned our fortunes around…
Last night was more of the same. Going up against both Neto and Traore, Williams simply didn’t look out of place. The teenager kept pace with both, was positionally aware and didn’t mind getting stuck in when Neto was trying to bully him midway through the second half.
It would have been oh so easy for the young man to crumble under the pressure but instead, he rose to the occasion – justifying his regular place in the starting XI over the last few weeks.
The mad thing is that this is just the start for him. Williams is only going to get better and sure, there will be some bumps in the road, but we’ve found an absolute diamond of a footballer here. Now if he can do the business against Liverpool this coming Sunday that’d be lovely…
For the time being, just enjoy the fan reaction as United supporters heaped praise on the 19-year-old following a top-quality display.
