Manchester United dropped more points this weekend, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side drawing 2-2 at home to Aston Villa.
The Red Devils lacked quality throughout, particularly in midfield. It was a game in which United’s ball-players showed no creativity, thought, ideas or class.
Fred blatantly isn’t good enough while Juan Mata doesn’t have the required skillset. Nobody sums it up more than Andreas Pereira, though. He’s got no real facet to his game that you really think ‘yeah, he’s good enough to start for United week-in-week-out’…
His positional sense is just awful. There’s no killer through ball in his game, Pereira can’t glide past his man like other quality attacking-midfielders, either.
As good as it gets for him is one moment of quality every handful of games. Yesterday’s cross into the box for Marcus Rashford was sublime, but the Brazilian simply doesn’t do it often enough.
It’s hard for Solskjaer because he has no other options. Scott McTominay, Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic are all out injured. I guess the only gamble he could take is throwing Dylan Levitt and James Garner in there, but that’d be a big risk.
Anyway, Reds fans took to Twitter in abundance to slate the 23-year-old midfielder – and rightly so. It was an awful display vs Villa, from a player who needs to be replaced as soon as possible…
