Manchester United got back to winning ways at a loud Old Trafford last night, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer getting one over on a certain Jose Mourinho – which is always fantastic to see.
The game itself was pretty much one-way traffic. United were the dominant team throughout with no bad performance being made by any player.
Credit where it’s due to all involved. Marcus Rashford and Scott McTominay will steal the show, but fans were also willing to praise a certain Ashley Young for his solid outing.
First and foremost, I want to discuss the mistake. Yes, he was at fault for the Spurs equaliser, but honestly, it was an outrageous bit of skill by Dele Alli to carve out that chance.
Putting that aside, Young was outstanding. Defensively, he kept Lucas Moura at bay, he was willing to tuck in and help out when it came to keeping Harry Kane and Son Heung-Min quiet, too.
He worked hard for the cause, got forward wherever possible and brought some much-needed experience to the table. Young is a proper big-game player who turns up when his team needs him the most and he has been an incredible servant to this club.
Yes, he’s not flashy, nor is he the most naturally talented, but you cannot deny the effort and leadership. I’m happy to report I’m not the only one who holds that opinion, with United fans taking to Twitter to praise a surprisingly pleasing performance from the defender vs Spurs:
