Man United handed boost in pursuit of 24-year-old winger: report

Manchester United have been handed a huge boost in their pursuit of Joao Mario, as Inter Milan have revealed that the winger is unhappy with his lack of playing time. That’s what Corriere dello Sport says anyway, translated by The Sun.

Mario, 24, had been linked with a move to Manchester United earlier on in the month, and now their hopes of signing him could have been handed a major lift due to the recent news.

Inter sporting director Walter Sabatini said“Joao has some issues with the lack of playing time.

“We don’t want to lose him. He is our player and we want to keep him.”

I’ve said it numerous times on here and I’ll say it again. United haven’t had that right-winger whom they can rely upon to put in solid performances every single week. Instead, Mourinho has flip-flopped between Juan Mata, Jesse Lingard and Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

It’s a position that certainly needs some work doing to it, and bringing in Mario would go an awfully long way towards fixing those issues. He’s a player that looks tailor-made for Premier League football due to his strength and skill combination.

As always, it’s notoriously tough to buy players in the mid-season window, so we’d probably be looking at a move during next summer; a time when you’d imagine a whole host of clubs would be weighing up a move to sign him, particularly if his lack of playing time continues.
