Jose Mourinho’s injury problems have seemingly eased up at the perfect moment, with Chris Smalling returning to the squad, according to The Metro.
The centre-back has missed Manchester United’s last two fixtures with a groin injury, and without the Englishman, the Red Devils didn’t win either of those games.
According to the report, the 28-year-old was spotted at the team hotel with the rest of the lads, and it’s looking likely that Smalling will play some part in the match against Everton later today.
United desperately need to get a win under their belts in order to get the confidence flowing again, and having Smalling back will definitely help. He can come into the team and bring some extra height as well as a real defensive calmness. With that said, going to Everton and winning is no easy task.
With both Romelu Lukaku and Zlatan Ibrahimovic out injured, it’ll be interesting to see who plays as the starting striker. The only real options manager Mourinho has is Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial. Personally, I’d opt for the latter.
