Ahead of Manchester United’s visit to Arsenal, Jose Mourinho has met the media to discuss a variety of topics.
Amongst conversation was the current injury situation at Old Trafford. Mourinho confirmed a few huge losses, ruling out Marouane Fellaini, Phil Jones and Eric Bailly. On top of that, Nemanja Matic has travelled, but he’s still a doubt to take part.
After three wins on the spin, United are looking in good shape. However, the hectic winter period is right on our doorstep, and this is a notoriously tough time to get victories on the board, particularly with our horrendous schedule over the next couple of weeks,
These games have been made all the tougher with key absences, although it looks like Matic’s injury isn’t a long-term one which is a great little boost.
To be without Marouane Fellaini and Nemanja Matic against Arsenal is significant. If both can’t take part, it means Ander Herrera will play. If we’re being honest, he hasn’t been anywhere near his best at the start of the season and that should worry United fans endlessly. I’m desperate for Matic to pull through and pass a late fitness test, because if he doesn’t, I fear the worst.
