Man United have already identified new number one transfer target following Griezmann: report

It looks as though our move for Antoine Griezmann was ended last night when the player took to Twitter to basically confirm he will be staying with Atletico Madrid. Manchester United aren’t hanging around, however, with Jose Mourinho already identifying a new primary transfer target.

That new first choice player is Romelu Lukaku, and the report comes from the Daily Express. They say that their sources close to the club believe that Mourinho wants the big Belgian to spearhead United’s attack in Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s absence, and what a brilliant acquisition it would be if the club can pull it off.

Lukaku is a man who has scored over 100 goals in his last four seasons in England, which is a crazy amount of strikes for a man who is just 24. The Toffees have been lucky to call him one of their own recently, but it looks like the player himself wants to move away – probably to play Champions League football whilst giving himself a better chance at winning trophies.

In terms of finding a typical Mourinho player, I don’t think there would be a better fit for the Old Trafford outfit. Lukaku is quick yet strong, he’s brilliant in the air and his finishing is deadly.

The only issue will be the fact that Everton would obviously much prefer to sell him abroad and in my opinion, that’ll mean United would have to pay through the roof as we’re obviously a direct rival of the Merseyside team.
