Man United have been in touch with Tielemans but yet to make a bid: report

For Manchester United, the transfer window is in full swing. The Red Devils are being linked with a new name practically daily at this point – as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looks to overhaul his squad.

Last night, we covered a story from Belgium media outlet DH, in which it was claimed that United had made a £36million bid for Youri Tielemans.

Well today another Belgian journalist, HLN’s Kristof Terreur, has given his take and it’s the polar opposite to DH’s claim… He states that United have been in touch with the 22-year-old’s agent for a ‘while now’ – although no official bid has been made.

Terreur goes on to add that Leicester City are still in pole position and they’re in advanced talks with AS Monaco.

With Paul Pogba’s future still up in the air, while United are yet to replace either Marouane Fellaini or Ander Herrera, it does make sense for United to firm up their interest in Tielemans with an official bid – provided they like him enough, of course.

Tielemans was impressive for Leicester during the second half of the season and he’d be a great addition in an area of the field United are extremely light in. He’s two-footed, a great passer, a willing shooter and a hard-worker. He also fits the young player-profile that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is aiming for this summer.

For me it feels like a no-brainer but we’ll have to see how this one plays out as if United were that keen you’d imagine an offer would have already been made.
