Man United have Everton’s Richarlison on list of potential January signings: report

Manchester United Football Club needs offensive reinforcement as soon as possible. The decision to let go of both Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez without replacement is a poor one.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing, eh? Though the good thing about football is that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has a chance for reprieve. Maybe as even as early as the January transfer window.

Well yesterday, the Evening Standard wrote a report stating that the addition of a striker remains the January priority, while monthly meetings are taking place between the manager and club.

Although the club believe Anthony Martial is a huge talent, he needs help. A shortlist has been drawn up, and on that list of January transfer targets, somewhat surprisingly, is the 22-year-old Premier League forward Richarlison. Apparently, Erling Braut Haaland is also being watched, while Timo Werner and Callum Wilson are also targets.

We’ve covered links to Haaland rather extensively, while the Evening Standard give off the impression that Wilson and Werner aren’t being considered as keenly as Richarlison – though the links to the Brazilian remain the most interesting.

He’s young, and has played in English football before – which is the mould that Solskjaer took over the summer transfer window. Aged just 22, Richarlison is only going to get better.

The Brazil international been inconsistent for both Watford and Everton, mind, which remains an issue. Richarlison certainly wouldn’t come cheap either, with Everton probably wanting to profit on the £50million that he cost them.

Versatility is a key asset of his and the ability to play all across the front three will no doubt come in handy. However, at this point, United need a specialist striker, someone who can guarantee 20+ goals a season. Can Richarlison be that? I’m not convinced.
