Manchester United’s January transfer window was a relatively quiet one, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and the board choosing to stick with what they have.
That makes sense given the Baby Faced Assassin has only been named manager on an interim basis. Why should he be given a huge budget if he may not be manager come next season’s start?
However, United are still identifying their targets for the summer. According to The Independent, both Kalidou Koulibaly and Milan Skriniar are amongst the players that the Red Devils are considering buying.
It’s no secret that United are desperate for a new centre-back. There has been countless times when needless goals have been given up due to naive mistakes being made by the likes of Phil Jones and Chris Smalling.
In the end, the lack of investment during 2018’s summer is probably what cost Jose Mourinho his job, and it’s a feat that United will definitely want to avoid going forward.
This squad has shown that it is more than capable of scoring goals, it just has a serious problem at the other end. If we can fix that, then who knows, we may well be title challengers over the next few years…
