Man United heavily scouting defender, step up interest in £40m-rated man: report

Manchester United’s defence has been rather stern of late. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer seems to have rejuvenated the troops and got the confidence flowing again.

However, perhaps the biggest problem area across the back line is right-back. Ashley Young is doing a decent job but ageing, Antonio Valencia just hasn’t been available, while Matteo Darmian, simply, isn’t good enough.

Right-back is seemingly the position the Red Devils have identified as the issue, too, as in an exclusive from The Sun, it is being reported that United are ‘stepping up’ their interest in Crystal Palace right-back, Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

Apparently, United have sent scouts to watch the Englishman on a number of occasions, with the 21-year-old enjoying his breakthrough season with The Eagles.

This boy can play and there’s no doubt he’d be a huge upgrade on what we already have in that area of the field. However, I do have my doubt about Palace’s willingness to let him leave.

The Sun reckon he’s rated at around £40million, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it eventually takes over £50million to prise him away from the London side. Would he be worth that? Absolutely.

Hopefully, United look to press on with this deal as soon as the transfer window opens – because it’d be a stunning signing.
