Back in January 2018, Manchester United would lose a legend of the game. Zlatan Ibrahimovic would spend just eighteen months in Manchester, though during his first full term at Old Trafford, he’d earn cult hero status.
Jose Mourinho had found his general, his icon, his on-field leader. That was until injury struck and Ibrahimovic would struggle to fully recover and force his way past Romelu Lukaku into the starting XI.
A move to the MLS, namely to LA Galaxy, would follow. As you’d expect, Ibrahimovic would tear up the American league at the ripe old age of 38.
Where to next? The people have been pondering that question for a fair while. Anyway today, the United icon seemingly confirms his next club via Instagram; and it’s a move that makes sense aplenty at this stage in his career.
According to the cryptic Instagram post, Ibrahimovic looks likely to be playing his football for Hammarby in the Swedish league next term. The side finished third in the table last time out – though only one point behind eventual winners, Djurgarden.
You’re telling me that Zlatan cannot make up that point? I certainly won’t be betting against him. Honestly, this seems like the perfect fit for Ibrahimovic as he approaches his forties.
Hopefully, he returns home, scores goals for fun and can add at least a few more trophies to an overflowing cabinet before he calls time on his career for good…
