Manchester United have held talks with Ander Herrera’s representatives, about the possibility of the Basque-born midfielder putting pen to paper on a new long-term contract at the club. That’s what The Telegraph writes, who adds that those aforementioned discussions took place during the club’s pre-season tour of the USA.
Herrera, 27, has just twelve months left to run on his current deal, and with interest from FC Barcelona strong, it makes perfect sense to put a new deal on the table for such a vital member of our team.
After a difficult second season under Louis van Gaal, everybody’s favourite midfielder came back last season and proved the doubters wrong with an absolutely stunning campaign.
He was at the heart of everything good about United’s midfield last season, and he begun to form a solid partnership alongside Paul Pogba.
This is a man that we simply have to keep. He absolutely loves playing for this great team, and he has a passion that money simply cannot buy. Get him signed up to a new four or five-year contract and put these rumours of him potentially leaving to bed – because he still has a huge part to play for Manchester United.
