Amid all the talk about Paul Pogba it’s easy to forget that Manchester United still need to press on and sign players.
In today’s Telegraph story about Pogba there was a transfer section and once again, Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s name came to the fore. What’s interesting about this report is that the English media outlet claims United ‘hope’ an agreement will be reached this week.
Apparently, the Red Devils ‘want to sign’ the talented 21-year-old, although United are ‘likely to pay at least £50million’ to sign Wan-Bissaka. Palace are also trying to remove a sell-on clause in Wilfried Zaha’s contract as a deal sweetener.
On a day filled with bad Pogba news, this is encouraging. United haven’t had a top-class, reliable right-back since Gary Neville left Old Trafford and there’s no doubt that Wan-Bissaka would be a huge ugprade on what we have in that area of the field.
He’s defensively excellent, in fact, I’m not sure a saw a better full-back in the one-on-one situation last season. He’s young, always improving and willing to learn. Playing with better footballers around him will only enhance Wan-Bissaka’s talent. Now it’s down to Edward Woodward to go out and get this deal done.
