As you’d expect, the Manchester United links to Jadon Sancho are really starting to ramp up. Here at Old Trafford Faithful, we’re covering the story almost daily…
In today’s version, the usually reliable Fabrizio Romano has had his say. According to the Italian journalist, United are in contact with the agent of superstar Sancho, though, as you’d expect, the deal won’t be a quick one…
What’s interesting here is that the asking price is €20m lower than what’s being widely reported. Apparently, Dortmund have named their price at €110m (£97m), while Romano adds no official bid has been made as of yet.
At this stage, I’d expect there’s a lot of posturing going on from both sides. United, understandably, are starting to lay the groundwork for a deal that’d be the most expensive in their history.
The thought of Sancho in this United team is a hugely exciting one. He’s English, homegrown and young – which is the player profile that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has seemingly put together as the ideal one.
Yes, he wouldn’t be cheap, but United have the money to spend. This is a move that could tip the Reds over the edge, thrusting the club back into contention again.
I don’t doubt that they’ll be other competitors, heck, Sancho may even opt to stay in Dortmund. However, United have to be amongst the front-runners at this stage.
