Manchester United’s strength has always been putting trust in youth and nurturing talent. Why change the habit of a lifetime?

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is doing his best to reaffirm that belief at Old Trafford, with the Red Devils now eyeing a deal for yet another young talent.

This time around it’s Joe Hugill. According to The Sun, United are ‘in touch’ with Sunderland about signing the striker for a six-figure fee, while the Reds are hoping to beat Premier League rival Tottenham Hotspur to the deal…

Spurs were in pole position to get the deal done, though United are ready to ‘take advantage’ of the delay and make their move.

Hugill, per The Sun, ‘plays well above his age group’ and will no doubt be looking to make his mark on a United youth team that is jam-packed with talented up-and-comers like Hannibal Mejbri.

If this deal does happen, it’ll no doubt be a few years before we see Hugill at the first-team level, but the relatively low transfer fee means it’s a low-risk move for United.

Sure, there’s just as much chance that Hugill fades out into the darkness as opposed to making it at the highest level, but the gamble definitely seems worth it.
