Manchester United have been installed as the betting favourite to sign Tottenham Hotspur right-back, Kieran Trippier, according to the Daily Express.
The Bury-born defender had his best domestic season of his career with The Lilywhites last term, and he’s taken that form to Russia, where he’s highly impressing for England.
Trippier’s defensive awareness and on-ball ability, particularly when it comes to crossing, has been superb during the tournament. I certainly wouldn’t be surprised to see loads of interest in him when England eventually come home.
I’d love to see him at Old Trafford. Antonio Valencia isn’t getting any younger, and at 27, Trippier’s the perfect age to come in and make that position in the team his own. He’d certainly cost an arm and a leg, though, with Daniel Levy at the helm…
Obviously, this is just bookmaker odds and those do change and vary depending on betting trends. This isn’t anything concrete, but it’s good to know that United stand as the front-runners if he were to move on from White Hart Lane this summer.
Right now, I genuinely don’t see him going anywhere, particularly after Spurs only sold Kyle Walker last season. They’ll be trying to regain some consistency in a key position.
