Odion Ighalo has been a revelation since making the move to Manchester, though a situation in which the Nigerian moves back to Shanghai Shenhua before playing another game for the Red Devils is becoming a real possibility.
Hence, Manchester United are looking at other options. Back on April 24th, we covered a story from Le10Sport, who claimed that the Red Devils were ‘monitoring’ Alassane Plea.
Apparently, United’s interest in the 27-year-old forward is ‘intensifying’ with the story claiming that contact has already been made with the player’s ‘entourage’.
Plea is currently plying his trade for Borussia Monchengladbach in the Bundesliga and is under contract until 2023.
Having scored eight goals this term and fifteen in the previous season, the Frenchman isn’t someone who is going to take on the lions share of the goalscoring burden – though he will chip in over the course of a campaign
In my opinion, that’s exactly what United need right now. Anthony Martial is the main man, with the Red Devils looking for someone to back him up and fill in when needs be. Plea would offer that different dimension ala Ighalo, and play a bit-part, but important role.
