Manchester United Football Club are all set for a big summer transfer window, as the Red Devils look to further tweak the squad and turn it into one that can compete for major honours.

Credit where it’s due, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s work in the transfer market has been fantastic. The Baby Faced Assassin definitely deserves more money to spend.

Recently, we covered a story that linked midfielder Federico Valverde with a move to Old Trafford. Now, those rumours have been backed up by a second source…

This time, the article comes from Sport (Monday print edition) translated via Sport Witness. They’ve confirmed that United are interested in the 21-year-old midfielder, while adding that the Uruguayan has become a ‘priority’ signing for Solskjaer.

So it’s all positive news, right? Well, the problem is that United recognises that signing Valverde will be ‘almost impossible’. A large reason behind that is the fact that the midfielder has a ridiculous €500m release clause in his contract…

Obviously, nobody is going to dish out that sort of money on any player at this point in time, while Valverde is undoubtedly loving life in Madrid right now as he’s playing an awful lot of football.

Unless something drastic happens, I’d doubt that Valverde will be playing his football at Old Trafford next season, no matter how interested United are…
