Manchester United are looking short on numbers – particularly in that midfield slot. It’s the one area that didn’t get filled over the summer despite rumours aplenty.
Well, despite a solid start to the 2019/20 campaign it’s clear to me that signing a creative player in the middle of the park is essential. Reports from Germany, namely Sport 1, link United with a new name…
They say that United, among other Premier League sides, are interested in signing the 20-year-old attacking-midfielder, Kai Havertz.
The Bayer Leverkusen hot-shot had an excellent 2018/19 season which has seen his stock rise dramatically. According to Sport 1, the German is now valued at £91million by the Bundesliga side.
Havertz scored 20 goals and added 7 assists in all competitions last term, while also making a flying start to this campaign, too… He’s predominantly an attacking midfielder but the German can play deeper if needs be.
In a fluid, free-flowing United attack under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Havertz would be perfect. You’d imagine that as the season goes on, his stock will only continue to rise – meaning his price-tag could quickly rise above the £100million mark.
Havertz will be hot property next summer. For that reason, United need to ensure they secure a top-four finish if they want any chance at signing the 20-year-old. Even if they can offer top continental competition it’ll still be pretty difficult to acquire his services.
