Manchester United are constantly on the lookout for the footballing stars of tomorrow. Credit where it’s due, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer hasn’t shied away from giving youngsters a chance. Enter, Mohammed Kudus.
Apparently, United hold a ‘lot of interest’ in the talented 19-year-old, while they’ve recently watched the player in action for his current club, FC Nordsjælland.
Kudus has operated as both a striker and central midfielder this term, scoring twelve goals and adding one assist. What’s interesting is that the youngster was left out of FC Nordsjælland’s squad for their game against Brondby IF – so he can make a decision on his future and work out where he wants to play next season.
The Red Devils aren’t the only interested party, though. Newcastle and Everton have both been linked in the past, while Tottenham Hotspur, Ajax, Borussia Dortmund, Marseille and Fenerbahçe are all apparently keen. I think that tells you everything you need to know about his talents.
Kudus’ contract situation is pretty weird. He has a deal which expires in December 2021 as opposed to the typical June expiry-date. However, he’s fastly approaching the last year of his deal, leaving FC Nordsjælland with a decision to make about his future.
Look, I’m not going to sit here and wax lyrical about a player I’ve only just heard about. However, we have no reason to doubt Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. His work in the transfer market has been excellent so far and until that changes, he has my full backing.
Mohammed Kudus can join and sit in the academy and learn his trade alongside the likes of Hannibal Mejbri for a season. Then maybe in a year or so, he’d be ready for first-team exposure.
