At times this season, Manchester United have had their struggles in front of goals. I find it damning that the Red Devils have been overly reliant on Marcus Rashford; a player who is nowhere near the finished article.
It seems as though Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has identified the front line as an area of need going into the summer transfer window though..
According to The Mirror, United are ‘keeping tabs’ on Lyon striker Moussa Dembele, with the club ‘desperate’ to improve their striking options.
Dembele, formerly of Scottish club Celtic, has found the back of the net eighteen times for Lyon this term as his stock continues to rise. United wouldn’t be alone in the chase to sign the Frenchman, though, with Arsenal also keen.
It’s a tough situation because United actually have a few options through the middle. Obviously, you have the aforementioned Rashford, then you have both Romelu Lukaku and Anthony Martial. All three have struggled for consistency this term, but you’d imagine that one would probably have to go as to ensure the squad doesn’t become too top-heavy.
Signing Dembele could well be an astute deal but it is a gamble. Personally, though, I feel it’s one worth taking providing the price is right.
