Manchester United are struggling to find the cause of knee pain that is keeping Marouane Fellaini sidelined, according to ESPN.
The midfielder suffered the problem back in early October while playing for Belgium, and despite returning for four games during November, the issue has still been causing him trouble and we’ve not seen him since.
Jose Mourinho was hopeful that his key midfielder would be fit to take on Manchester City in the derby, but the former Everton man wasn’t fit enough to play, and the club still don’t really know what the injury is.
This is concerning, because who knows how long it’ll take the club to work out exactly what is going on. We could be waiting weeks or months, but for now, I guess it’s just a case of managing the situation rather than solving it.
On top of that, Fellaini still hasn’t put pen to paper on a new contract at the Theatre of Dreams which poses another question. If they can’t fix the issue before January, they’ll have a dilemma in regards to how long of a contract they should put on the table for him.
