Man United left sweating as pivotal man facing late fitness test for Spurs clash: report

Manchester United Football Club are sweating on Luke Shaw’s fitness, with the 23-year-old a doubt to take on Tottenham Hotspur on Monday.

According to ESPN, per The Metro, the 23-year-old is nursing a foot injury that the club are currently monitoring. Shaw will be assessed during the week to see whether he’ll be able to take part in the heavyweight encounter.

Against Leicester on the opening day, Shaw was simply magnificent. He was solid defensively (minus one lapse in concentration), and a threat in attack – something which was severely lacking from the full-back areas at times last season.

I’m just pleased that Jose Mourinho has shown faith in the Englishman, whom I think it’s fair to say has had a turbulent time since making the move north from Southampton.

Although Mourinho does have an affection for Ashley Young, I just hope that Shaw keeps getting the opportunities to impress. As we’ve seen more often than not, Shaw will not let us down. He’s young, with an immensely bright future. Thankfully this injury doesn’t seem like anything too serious and even if he does miss out, he’ll be back after the international break.
