Man United legend Patrice Evra felt ‘depressed’ after leaving club for Juventus

Manchester United Football Club have played host to their fair share of legends over the years. Unfortunately, football journeys don’t always have a happy ending.

For Patrice Evra, that was the case. After a glittering career at Old Trafford, he’d eventually have to leave prematurely following falling out-of-favour. Without doubt, this was probably one of United’s biggest mistakes over the last half-decade or so, even just as a dressing room presence, it was worth keeping Paddy around…

Anyway, it’d be Juventus who’d win his signature – another huge club within European football. Even so, Evra has admitted that it was ‘weird’ for the first few months in Turin, and despite being a positive guy, the left-back has admitted he felt ‘a little bit depressed’ for a few months. Now, he’s happy to be ‘home’ as he completes his coaching badges at the AON Training Complex.

“I left for personal reasons and joined a big club like Juventus. It was really weird for me in the first few months to wear their shirt.” Evra is quoted as saying by Sky Sports.

“Even if I am a funny and positive guy, I was a little bit depressed for a few months. I couldn’t accept the fact that I had to leave United. I’m a Mancunian and I’m happy to be home.

“When I’m back here it feels like home. Even if I have to finish as a groundsman, I will. United is in my DNA.”

There aren’t many players in this game who understand exactly what it means to play for United. Evra epitomises everything good about this club, and it’d be an absolute travesty if the Red Devils don’t offer him a permanent place on the staff in some capacity.

He loves it here. He gets what United are trying to achieve. He’s got a burning desire to return this club back to its former glories. Surely it’s a no brainer to give him some sort of job?

People who’re motivated to succeed always do the best job. You can bet your bottom dollar that Evra would come in and shake up that dressing room in a major way. He’s a positive guy and he’d go about it in the right way. Also, he’s already got an excellent relationship with United’s French contingent. Who knows, perhaps he can convince Paul Pogba to stay…
