Man United loanee returns to Old Trafford early, reason unknown

Talented Manchester United goalkeeper Joel Pereira will return to Old Trafford immediately, after his loan was cut short.

Portuguese outfit Vitoria de Setubal confirmed that Pereira will head back to Manchester, although they didn’t give a reason as to why.

The club did thank Pereira for his professionalism and effort, with the 22-year-old shot-stopper running out 10 times for Vitoria.

Originally, his deal was a season-long loan, but now, he’ll return back to Manchester.

Although he’ll be disappointed to be heading back, perhaps it comes at a good time. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is now in charge, and maybe the Baby Faced Assassin will have Pereira in his plans from now until the season’s end.

From what we’ve seen of the Portuguese, he’s a great keeper who has a bright future. One problem has always remained, however. Goalkeeper is a position where United are extremely strong.

First, you have David de Gea who’s the best goalkeeper on the planet, while Sergio Romero is probably the best back-up in England. Lee Grant is a great keeper in his own right, and Pereira probably slots in here, just ahead of Dean Henderson.

I wouldn’t be wholly surprised to see him loaned out again, or perhaps even sold while he still holds some transfer value. We’ll just have to remain patient and see how this one plays out.
