Manchester United have made a £36million offer for FC Barcelona star, Sergi Roberto. That’s according to Spanish media outlet Mundo Deportivo, translated by The Sun, who adds that the Catalan giants immediately rejected the offer from the Red Devils.
Apparently, Jose Mourinho is keen to add at least one more player to the ranks before the transfer window slams shut at the start of September, and it looks as though he’s identified the Spaniard Roberto as that man.
However, Mundo Deportivo report that there is no chance of a deal happening, particularly who has come through the ranks at the Camp Nou, and is now so highly thought of.
At 25, Roberto is rapidly approaching the best years of his career, and the FC Barcelona man is a great player in any squad due to his versatility. He’s predominantly a midfielder, but he can also start as a right-back; an area which Manchester United look like in, particularly following the news that Timothy Fosu-Mensah is set to leave on loan.
So you can see why Mourinho is keen on Roberto as he’d be killing two birds with one stone. With that said, it certainly looks as though any potential deal will be a pretty tough one to push over the line.
