Man United make £53m Ndombele offer, contractual terms agreed: report

Although Manchester United currently have gaping holes all over the field, for me the most pressing matter is signing a new central player.

Marouane Fellaini and Ander Herrera have both left. Neither are yet to be replaced. For Ole Gunnar Solskjaer it’s about finding the perfect player, preferably someone who can slot into the team straight away.

Seemingly, the Baby Faced Assassin’s search has led to interest in Tanguy Ndombele of Lyon. According to Soccerlink (thanks to @UtdReport for the translation) – United are amongst a trio of clubs who have made a €60m (£53m) offer for the classy 22-year-old.

The other two sides who have made bids are Tottenham Hotspur and Juventus, while Soccerlink’s article also states that both United and Juve have agreed ‘contractual terms’ with the player.

There may be a stumbling block, mind, with Lyon asking for €90m (£80m) to let their star midfielder leave during this window.

In terms of fit, I’m not sure there’s a central player out there better than Ndombele. He’s incredibly mobile, a brilliant reader of the game and he will chip in on the offensive side of things, too.

Aged 22 he’s only going to improve – and he fits the mould of the young players United are trying to attract. Earlier on in the month, one of our writers explained Ndombele’s situation perfectly, outlining why he’d be an ideal fit for the Red Devils. Check it out here.
