Manchester United’s pursuit for a new centre-half is seemingly going on, with Jose Mourinho tabling a £57million bid for Milan Skriniar.
That’s according to 101 Great Goals, translated by The Sun. However, Inter Milan are adamant that they’ll only entertain offers of over £70million for the man they only signed permanently last summer.
The 23-year-old, in my opinion, would be the ideal partner for Eric Bailly at the heart of our back four. He’s quick, a real aerial presence and tough in the tackle, while also being excellent when it comes to distributing the ball to his teammates.
After a poor season from Victor Lindelof and Phil Jones, with Marcos Rojo and the aforementioned Bailly not playing due to injury, there is definitely room for a new defender within the squad.
With that said, £57million is a huge amount of money to spend on someone who’s untested in Egland. The style of play is much tougher over here, and no doubt Skriniar would probably need a season to fully adjust and adapt. I do like the young man, but personally, I feel as though we’re crying out for experience. Toby Alderweireld would be my #1 choice right now.
