Marouane Fellaini has always been a player that the Manchester United fans just have never taken to. The much-maligned Belgian has had a pretty good season under Jose Mourinho, as he helped himself and his teammates to two major pieces of silverware.
With that said, there are rumours suggesting that Fellaini could well be on his way out. Website Turkish Football cites reports in Turkey from Fotomac stating that United are in advanced talks with Trabzonspor over the sale of the 29-year-old.
They say that talks are progressing but at this point in time, there is no deal in place. The Black Sea side are after making a marquee acquisition this summer, as they will be marking their 50th anniversary next season.
At the end of the day, I’m happy with how his season turned out, but that doesn’t change my personal view that he isn’t suited to Manchester United’s style of play.
It would definitely be the right decision to move him on and bring in a more mobile option, perhaps someone like Fabinho who has been linked with a move to Old Trafford from AS Monaco.
Now it is up to Edward Woodward to try and push this deal through. I think it is in the best interests of all involved, and if we can recoup a good chunk of the transfer fee that we paid for him when David Moyes was in charge, it makes a lot of sense.
