Manchester United are being made to sweat regarding Marouane Fellaini’s long-term future at Old Trafford. That’s because he wants a huge pay rise in order to stay at the club, according to The Sun, as per The Metro.
At this point in time, the 29-year-old is currently taking home around £80,000-a-week, but he wants that to be upped to reflect his current importance to the team.
Apparently, Fellaini is chasing somewhere around the £130,000-a-week mark, which would be a huge increase in regards what he’s currently earning.
The 6’5 midfielder is out of contract in the summer, and according to the aforementioned report, United wouldn’t really want to hang an expensive, long-term deal to someone who’s rapidly approaching 30. That’s totally understandable in my opinion, because the club cannot simply go handing around new contracts based on the back of a good month of football.
Don’t get me wrong, I’ve always backed Fellaini and I think he’s a brilliant option to have in and around the squad. I just hope he doesn’t price himself out a new contract at Manchester United, because when all is said and done, he’ll be the one regretting it.
