Manchester United Football Club still feel a midfielder or two light in terms of numbers.
The Red Devils never really replaced either Marouane Fellaini or Ander Herrera in that true central midfield position. However, rumours keep linking the Old Trafford outfit with potential signings in that area.
The latest name to make his way onto the back-pages in relation to United is Lazio star, Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.
Apparently, Lazio may let him leave this summer, as club president, Igli Tare, has admitted that it’s up to the player himself.
However, there are a couple of stumbling blocks. First and foremost, it could take £80m+ to get the deal done, while United aren’t the only interested party. Both Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur are also keen on the Serbian.
Milinkovic-Savic isn’t a player I’m 100% sold on. He’s that Rolls Royce-type midfielder, who’s more the icing atop the cake as opposed to the cake itself if you get what I mean.
Personally, I’d prefer to see that sort of money spent on players who are proven in the English game, as opposed to taking a gamble on someone who’d need time to adjust and adapt.
