Romelu Lukaku’s time at Manchester United has been mixed. For me, it all begun to go downhill after he told the fans not to sing *that* song…
Jokes aside, the striker has scored goals in bunches since moving to Old Trafford – but for whatever reason, Lukaku has remained consistently inconsistent. When you pay £75million for a forward, that has to be a concern.
The 2018/19 season may well have been his last at United, that’s if a report from FcInterNews, translated by Sport Witness is to be believed. They’re claiming that Inter Milan are planning for next season and Lukaku’s name is ‘first’ on their wishlist to replace Mauro Icardi should the Argentine leave.
Furthermore, United are open to a sale while the player himself ‘wishes’ to play for Inter next season. The Red Devils value Lukaku at the €70-80m (£60-70m) mark, while the Serie A club are ready to offer €20-30m (£17.5-£26.5m) plus Ivan Perisic for the 26-year-old forward.
Perisic is a player who intrigues me. The 30-year-old is the pefect winger for United’s style of play, although I do worry about his age and the fact that his best days are probably behind him.
If United can recoup anything close to the £75million that they paid for Lukaku, it’d probably be wise to sell him while he still has value – giving Ole Gunnar Solskjaer a sizeable amount of money to reinvest back into the squad
