Man United passed up on chance to sign Hazard because they trusted 20-year-old flop

Manchester United refused to sign Eden Hazard back in 2010, because of their faith in Bebe.

That’s what The Express says anyway, as they cite the Manchester Evening News.

Famously, the then 20-year-old was signed by Sir Alex Ferguson, who hadn’t even seen the Portuguese winger play at the time. Despite a bright start to life in Red Devils colours, it rapidly went downhill for the winger, who’s now plying his trade in Spain.

As we all know too well, Hazard is up there amongst the elite players in the Premier League, and what a stunning signing that would have been.

However, eight years ago nobody knew how it was going to turn out. Yeah, it’d be great if we could turn the clocks back and sign Hazard instead of Bebe, but obviously, it just doesn’t work like that.

With young players, in particular, it’s tough to know who’s going to succeed under the pressure and who’s going to crumble, because talent-wise, there’s very little in it at the top of the footballing pyramid.

It does make you wonder how many trophies we would have won with Hazard in red, though. That boy is a fantastic footballer.
