Man United planning to hand Scott McTominay new £60k-a-week contract: report

Manchester United have had a cracking week. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has gone up against two of the best managers in the game – and beaten them both pretty handily.

Those two massive victories also saw the welcome return of Scott McTominay. The young midfielder has always been critical to this football team, but perhaps we didn’t realise just how important he is…

It’s the drive, desire and willingness to win. He already looks like a future Reds captain, that’s for sure. Now, McTominay looks set to get rewarded for his impeccable form this term.

The story comes from The Sun, who state that United are planning to hand the 22-year-old a new £60,000-a-week contract after his impressive start to the season.

United want to reward the academy graduate after becoming a regular under Solskjaer, with the Old Trafford club looking to double his current £30,000-a-week wages.

McTominay only signed a new long-term deal in January, though the impact he’s had over the last few months has been simply sublime. It makes sense that the club want to ensure that his sublime form has been recognised – so why not tie him down to a bigger contract?

Apparently, his new deal that’s in the works is set to run until 2025, with United looking to having everything sealed in the new year…
