Man United players stand in unity after Paul Pogba is racially abused online

In the wake of Manchester United’s 1-1 draw away to Wolverhampton Wanderers, the reaction has been mostly positive.

The Red Devils’ performance was a spirited one. United looked like the dominant side. For a missed penalty, the 20-time Premier League winners would have won two from two.

Paul Pogba was the man tasked with dispatching the spot-kick. He failed. That’s football. Some ‘fans’, though, had to take it too far as per usual. There’s always a few idiots online, hiding behind a fake profile picture with a fake name who have to take it to the next level.

Unfortunately, some United ‘supporters’ were at it last night and this morning and quite frankly, it’s disgusting. Social media offers fans a chance to interact with their heroes which I think is great, but there’s always those muppets who use it for harm rather than good.

In the wake of what’s happened, United players, and the club themselves, have used social media to send out a strong message. This will not be tolerated at Old Trafford. This should no longer be happening in 2019.

Whatever you think of Pogba there’s just no need to do it. At the end of the day we’re all human beings. Although a public figure, the 26-year-old is just doing his job and that shouldn’t lead to anything derogatory being said about anyone. It’s just not good enough and it has to stop.
