Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has identified Toni Kroos as the man to join Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic in a midfield three.
That’s according to The Independent, per The Metro, who says that the Real Madrid man could be replacing Michael Carrick within the Manchester United setup this summer.
Kroos, 28, could be on the chopping block at the Santiago Bernabeu, with Los Blancos planning a summer overhaul after falling way behind FC Barcelona in the La Liga title race.
The German, who apparently came close to a Red Devils move back in 2014, is open to a Premier League switch, and what a stunning signing it’d be if Mourinho could pull this one off.
I think it comes as no surprise that moving to a three-man midfield would be the best course of business for the aforementioned Pogba. It’s a formation that he flourished in during his time at Juventus, and if Mourinho wants to get the best out of him then surely that’s the best move.
The report also says that Mourinho is hopeful Marouane Fellaini will remain at Old Trafford.
