Man United prepared to let 28-year-old leave in January, Wolves interested: report

It became common knowledge that Manchester United wanted to sign a new centre-back over the summer, but to Jose Mourinho’s frustration, a player wasn’t signed.

Now, it looks as though the self-proclaimed Special One may have been told to sell before he can buy, with the Daily Record, per The Sun, claiming that United are prepared to let Marcos Rojo leave Old Trafford – and potentially as early as January.

The 28-year-old is yet to play a first-team game this season, with Wolverhampton Wanderers setting their sights on a move for the Argentine.

It seems funny, really. During Mourinho’s debut season, Rojo was playing week-in-week-out at the heart of the back four alongside Eric Bailly, who, ironically, is also struggling at present.

Injuries haven’t helped Rojo, that ACL issue that kept him sidelined for the best part of nine months definitely set him back, but the talent and ability is still there.

I would at least give him the opportunity that he deserves before shipping him out – because his experience, willingness to win and sheer desire is something that this squad doesn’t have an awful lot of. I’m not being funny, but he can do no worse than the likes of Phil Jones…
