Man United preparing offer for Bruno Fernandes, agent pushing for move: report

Manchester United are yet to replace Marouane Fellaini or Ander Herrera. Paul Pogba could yet join them out of the Old Trafford exit door.

At least one new central player will have to be signed. The name that seems to be appearing most is that of Bruno Fernandes – Sporting Lisbon’s prolific midfield maestro.

The latest update in that saga comes from the Wednesday print edition of Record, translated wonderfully by Sport Witness.

They’re claiming that United are ‘preparing an offer’ for the talented 24-year-old, while the player’s agent is pushing for a move to the 20-time Premier League champions.

Apparently there are several clubs in the race to sign Fernandes and at this point it’s United leading the charge.

You look at Fernandes’ stats for this season and you immediately fall in love with the player. The Portuguese has scored 32 goals while tacking on 16 for his teammates. In 53 appearances across all competitions, that’s mightily impressive whichever way you look at it.

United’s struggles to control games and win the midfield battle has been evident for at least a few years. Fernandes feels like an immediate upgrade although you do have concerns about buying players from the Portuguese league. In all likelihood, it will take the player time to settle – using Victor Lindelof as the prime example.

Fernandes certainly wouldn’t come cheap, either, but at this point I’m a desperate United fan who just wants to see this club undergo a massive change.
