Man United player ratings vs Southampton during 2-2 draw (Premier League home, 2019/20)

Manchester United had the chance to move up into third, but in typical fashion, the Red Devils blew it in heartbreaking fashion. Anyway, here’s our United ratings vs Southampton…

David de Gea – Didn’t really have an awful lot to do aside from picking the ball out of his net twice. Made a top save to deny Nathan Redmond, but that was it. 6/10

Aaron Wan-Bissaka – Positionally sound for the most part, but didn’t really feature in the game as much as we’d like. 5/10

Victor Lindelof – Had an excellent game, including a stellar block late on. His poor play for the late Southampton leveller cannot be ignored though. Positionally dreadful and on the wrong side of the eventual scorer Obafemi. 4/10

Harry Maguire – There were one or two nervy moments, but he was a non-factor for this one really. 5/10

Luke Shaw – Was playing well and causing problems down that left. Unfortunately had to be subbed off after rolling his ankle – and that’s when it all started to go wrong for United, through no fault of his own. 7/10

Nemanja Matic – Mopped up pretty well in the middle portion of the game. However, struggled at both the start and end. Looked exhausted in the final 10. 5/10

Paul Pogba – Sloppy in possession on more than one occasion. Looked like a player who’d been used game-in-game-out after an awfully-long lay-off. I hope he’s fit to play on Thursday. 4/10

Bruno Fernandes – Probably his quietest game in United colours. Credit to Southampton, they packed the midfield and stopped him playing. 5/10

Mason Greenwood – Lucky to come away from a Romeu ankle-breaker with just a bruise. Didn’t really get into the game at all. 4/10

Marcus Rashford – Took his goal with aplomb. Linked up wonderfully-well with his pal Martial. 8/10

Anthony Martial – United’s best player. Threatened the Southampton goal and did some remarkable work in the build-up to United’s opener. Brilliant. 9/10

Brandon Williams – Came on for the injured Shaw but was then involved in a nasty clash of heads. I hope he’s ok.

Fred – Wasn’t on the ball enough and tried to invite the pressure.

Daniel James – Quiet.

Scott McTominay – Sat too deep.
