Fabrizio Romano confirms Man United reach total agreement to loan out Andreas Pereira: report

A loan move away from Manchester United for Andreas Pereira looks all set to be agreed before the transfer deadline.

Yesterday, out of nowhere, there was talk that Pereira would undergo a Lazio medical ahead of leaving Old Trafford. Now, it has been backed up by one of the best in the business…

Last night, Fabrizio Romano tweeted that a total agreement has been reached, with a medical set for this week. The out-of-favour United star Pereira is seemingly set to leave on loan during this window.

Initially, the deal will be a loan, though Lazio have an option to buy for €27m (£25m). The salary of the player will be shared by United and the Serie A outfit for the duration of the deal.

Check out Romano’s tweet here:

My initial impression is that this is good news. Simply put, Pereira isn’t good enough to play for Manchester United week-in-week-out. It’s why he hasn’t even made the bench this season.

However, I struggle to believe that there’s a club out there who’d willingly pay £25million to sign him permanently. In all likelihood, he’ll be back in Manchester next summer.

While it’s nice to free up his spot in the squad and get some of his wages off the books, the long-term Pereira issue will probably remain. For now, though, we have to think about the here and now.

He’s leaving so the Reds need a replacement. United need to go out there and sign an attacker, preferably Jadon Sancho but I certainly wouldn’t say no to Ismaila Sarr.

Credit where it’s due to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who has shown he does have that ruthless streak in him when it comes to potentially selling players. It’s a trait that I didn’t think he had but I’m glad the Norwegian is proving me wrong…
