Man United see £60million bid for defender rejected, centre back search continues: report

Manchester United are seemingly in the market for a new centre-back this summer, but their search will continue after Inter Milan reject a £60million offer for Milan Skriniar.

That’s according to Gazzetta dello Sport, per the Daily Mirror. The Slovakian has been brilliant in the Serie A over the last twelve months, with interest in him growing. Manchester City, FC Barcelona and Liverpool are all apparently keen.

Aged just 23, Skriniar’s stock is rising, and quickly. Following an injury-hit season for Eric Bailly, a hit-and-miss campaign for Phil Jones and Victor Lindelof’s struggles, United definitely need to bring in a new centre-half.

The Red Devils have been linked with Toby Alderweireld from Tottenham Hotspur, but a move for Skriniar would signal that Jose Mourinho is keen to build for the future; as well as the hear and now.

Skriniar is a real modern-day defender. He’s quick, tough in the tackle and great in the air. There is no doubting that he’d be perfect for Premier League football once he’s fully adapted and adjusted, but there would likely be a settling in period. Right now, is that something United can afford? I’m not so sure, and a move for the ready-made player would probably be the best option at this point.
