Man United sent top scout to watch defender, deal will cost £25million: report

Manchester United have already signed one centre-back this summer, with Victor Lindelof securing an Old Trafford move earlier on in the window. However, the Red Devils could be eyeing a move for another defender. That’s what Super Deporte write anyway, translated via the Daily Express.

United sent chief Spanish scout Carlos Ruiz, Javier Ribalta, to watch Valencia CF’s game against Las Palmas on Friday night. Apparently, the Manchester club were looking at Argentine defender, Ezequiel Garay.

The 30-year-old has apparently been subject to interest from English clubs, including Tottenham Hotspur, but as of now, no bid for the experienced centre-half has been tabled.

In my opinion, this is a move that would certainly make a lot of sense. Having a man who has played a lot of football is so key to any team that has title hopes and aspirations.

Yes, we have a lot of centre-backs on our books already, but I’d much prefer to see Chris Smalling sold for a proven defender who can keep himself off the treatment table.

The best part is that the aforementioned article is claiming that Garay could be available for between £22-25m, which in the modern day market is an absolute steal. With time running out in the window, Edward Woodward will have to act fast.
