Manchester United have apparently activated the release clause of Anderson Talisca, according to Turkish media outlet Foto Spor. They say that the Red Devils have struck a deal with SL Benfica that’ll see the 23-year-old move to Old Trafford this summer.
Talisca, an attacking midfielder, spent last season on loan at Turkish side Besiktas, and he was expected to continue in the Super Lig this season; that was until this news broke. The report goes on to say that the Brazilian has now gone back to Portugal because of ‘problems in his legal documentations’.
Jose Mourinho has been in search of a new attacker this summer, but so far he has come up short in his pursuits – the most prominent one being Ivan Perisic.
If you’ve watched any of our pre-season tour fixtures, you can see we’re still one man short in the final third of the field, and maybe Talisca is the man to fill that void.
He had a great season with Besiktas last time around, and he fits the Mourinho mould; tall, quick and strong. He’d contribute physically and technically, and he can even drop back and play as a central midfielder if the situation arises. At £25million, this could be an underrated bit of business if the move goes through.
