Man United set colossal £132.5million asking price to ward off interest in superstar: report

Manchester United have set a huge £132.5million (€150m) asking price for Romelu Lukaku, with interest in the striker coming from Real Madrid.

That’s according to Spanish media outlet Don Balon, translated by Team Talk. Apparently, Los Blancos’ president, Florentino Perez, wants to sign the Belgium international as a direct replacement for Karim Benzema.

Lukaku had an excellent debut season at Old Trafford, and he certainly carried that form into the World Cup; scoring four goals in his three appearances so far.

We’ve been here before, haven’t we? Interest from Real Madrid in our players always seems to hang over our heads, as is the case with David de Gea at the moment. Hopefully, this one has the same result, and Lukaku remains here for many more years yet.

Thankfully, the ball is in United’s court. He was only signed last summer, to a huge, long-term contract. The club are under absolutely no pressure to sell, although it’s highly likely that a colossal offer from the Spanish giants will come in at some point; particularly if Lukaku’s excellent form continues.

For now, though, I don’t think we’ve anything to worry about. Let’s just enjoy the big man while we can, because he’s a fantastic player.
