Man United set to hand star new £175k-a-week contract to ward off interest: report

Manchester United Football Club are set to hand Ander Herrera a staggering new deal worth £175,000-a-week, according to the Daily Star. They say that he’ll sign a new deal that’ll keep him at the club until 2021, and he’ll earn £75,000-a-week more than his previous deal.

The report says that United have been impressed with the performances from the Basque-born midfielder over the past year, and this new deal will be put in place amid interest from FC Barcelona.

Herrera, 27, has no intention of leaving the Theatre of Dreams claims The Star, but I bet a new bumper deal with a couple of extra years on his contract must be pleasing for him.

Last term, he finally became that reliable midfielder that United have been calling out for. Playing alongside Paul Pogba, that was by far our best combination as the season drew to it’s climax and I’d expect to see the same duo starting the majority of matches when the 2017/18 campaign begins.

Everyone loves him. The fans adore his passion and desire to win, and I’m sure his teammates appreciate the effort and physical energy he exerts every single time he takes to the pitch.

The regular football he has been allowed under Mourinho has seen him improve as a player endlessly, and that performance he put in against Chelsea at home was one of the best I’ve seen in recent years.
