Man United set to sign midfield wonderkid from European giants this summer: report

Manchester United are closing in on a deal to sign Renato Sanches from Bayern Munich – but the Red Devils will have to settle for a loan move. That’s according to The Sun, who adds that Jose Mourinho wanted to sign him last summer, but the player opted to move to Bavaria instead.

The wonderkid had a simply stunning European Championships in 2016, contributing to his native Portugal winning the tournament. That prompted Bayern to spend a huge £31million to sign the teenager.

However, Sanches found minutes hard to come by last term and United could be about to land the man who Mourinho tried to acquire last summer.

Although if I’m being honest, I wouldn’t be all that thrilled about bringing him in on a one-year loan deal. I guess the only way that’d be worth it is if we had some sort of buy option written in his contract.

To me, it just doesn’t seem like good business sense bringing him in for twelve months, playing him regularly and developing him for Bayern to reap the rewards.

I’d much prefer the club to spend big on getting him in permanently because Mourinho seems to be a huge fan of the box-to-box midfielder.
