Well, folks, it looks as though our David de Gea luck has finally run out. From a dodgy fax machine to Real Madrid opting to move for Thibaut Courtois, it felt like Manchester United were going to keep ahold of their star man.
Now, though, Paris Saint-Germain have seemingly entered the fray. A report from the Daily Mail now claims that the 28-year-old will make the move to the French capital in the summer; when his United contract runs out.
Not only that, however, De Gea will become the highest paid goalkeeper in sport, earning a huge £300,000-a-week, which equates to £15.5million per season, and over £60million for the duration of the contract.
I’d like to think that United would be willing to match those wages. Let’s be honest, he’s our best player by far and we need him. The problem is, I don’t think this is solely about money. He looked extremely frustrated during the game against Crystal Palace, and that’s happening all-too-often for his liking.
Can we really blame him if De Gea wants to leave and go win trophies galore with PSG? At this point, I don’t think so. He deserves success and unfortunately, we haven’t been able to deliver in that regard.
